What is TripConnect?

TripConnect allows you to get travel advice from a network of friends and others who share your tastes and interests. The truth is, most people don't know the majority of places to which even close friends have traveled, and indeed, someone in your larger network of acquaintances and friends of friends has probably been to almost any place you can think of.

TripConnect allows you to tap into all the travel knowledge that exists in your network, to get the best advice from the best source: friends, family and people who share your tastes and interests.

How does TripConnect work?

To get the most out of TripConnect, you need to take three simple steps.

1. Become a member. Signing up for TripConnect easy.
2. Select places you have traveled and places you want to travel to. During registration, you can indicate some places you have been on recent travels to share with your network or create a wish list of all the places you want to go.
3. Link to your friends. At any time you can invite friends to link to you on TripConnect. We provide an invitation form that you can use during registration or at any time thereafter.
4. Join groups or start your own group. Groups can be based on shared activities and interests and open to all or private.

What should I write reviews on?

You can write reviews on your favorite destinations and hotels for starters. Top review topics seem to be places people went on a romantic getaway, a destination they went to indulge in their favorite sport or interest. Or start by seeing where your friends have been and see what they have written reviews about.

How do I get advice from people in my network?

Once you have signed up and linked to some people or joined a group, you will begin to see the power of your network. Choose a destination, and you will see friends, friends of friends, and members of groups you belong to who have been to that place. If they've written a review, you'll see that review at the top. At any time you can consult the people in your network and ask for advice about the destination, hotels, restaurants, things to do, etc.

How will I know if someone is in my network or not?

If someone is in your network, you will see their name on a list of people in your network. Their reviews will also show their name.

Can anyone see my name?

No, only people in your network can see your name. Your network is your group of friends, their immediate friends, and members of groups you join. Other people just see you userid and where you are from (e.g. John24 from New York).

Is there an easy way to ask people for information?

With the click of a button, you can send people in your network a message on TripConnect. This is really useful when you see that you have a number of people in your network who have been to a place you want to go, or if you have a question about a review a friend has written.

Can anyone send me messages?

By default, other registered members of TripConnect can send you messages or request to link to you. But, if you want to limit messages and invitations to people in your network, you can change your preferences by clicking on My Account

Can I show my reviews to friends?

Yes. All your reviews go on to a special page for you under ?My Profile?. You can share this page with anyone you like. It's a great way share your best travel tips.

How will I know if a friend has written a review of some cool place?

From time to time, you will get an email alert showing you reviews from people in your network or reviews and articles about places you want to go to. Don't want the alerts? It's easy to unsubscribe from alerts. You can sign up for them again later.

What if I don't want the whole wide world to know about my favorite little getaway?

You control who sees your reviews. Have something you want to share only with your circle of friends? When you write the review simply click on "share with friends only"

What if I want to change my email address or other account information?

You can change your email address and other account information at any time by visiting "my account".
