Like many people, my earliest experiences with wine were less than exceptional. My first taste, sipped from a plastic cup at a religious service, was a cloyingly sweet concord grape—like spiked Kool-Aid with extra sugar. Lucky for me, the experience didn’t stop there. As a food writer and frequent traveler, I’ve had the opportunity to try many wines ... some I love and some I dislike. I’ve come to find that trying wines and learning about them is half the fun. The other half, of course, is simply enjoying them.
In my upcoming blog entries, I’ll talk about all aspects of wine and travel, including wine-producing regions, restaurants with great wine lists and how to pair wines with regional dishes. (For example, did you know that Riesling goes terrific with spicy Chinese food?) If there’s a particular subject you want to know about, please tell me!
