I went to the University of Richmond and really enjoyed the small big town feel. It is mainly a suburban city with a few blocks of 'downtown.' The best places to hang out are on Cary town and Shockoe bottom. Cary town (on Cary street) is filled with unique stores and restaurants and is perfect for a Sunday stroll. The people in the Richmond suburbs are preppy, conservative, kind and a little slower paced than in Northern VA. Down in the city there is a little more diversity- but nothing  more...
