I have been back to Charleston multiple times. It is really incredible. Probably one of the most historic sites in America and gorgeously preserved. Make sure you check in with the historical preservation society for tours. The best time to go see historical homes is April when the most well-known homes are open to the public. However, at other times of the year the Society organizes walking tours which are great as well.
