Montreal was my first trip outside of the US. In many ways, it prepared me for European travel. Montreal is a lively cosmopolitan city. It has a touch of the foreign, blended in with a touch of the familiar. If you plan to go, keep in mind that winters are extremely cold. Summer is the high season, so it may be a bit crowded.
