OTTAWA The view of Ottawa from the Peace Tower atop the Parliament Buildings, gave me a great feeling about Canada’s capital. The city boasts many beautiful parks. The Rideau Canal joins the river at the spot where British commander Colonel By established a settlement. Later, Queen Victoria’s edict designated Bytown as the site for the administration of the (then) colonies of Upper and Lower Canada and the name was changed to Ottawa.
