Ithaka- or Ithaki, a small island off the coast of the bigger Kefalonia boasts of being the home of the legendary Odysseus from Homer's Iliad and Oddysey (though Kefalonians will claim him for themselves). Now it caters mainly to private sailors and yacht-owners. I visited, having done minimal research. Arriving on a 20 minute, under-crowded ferry from Kefalonia, I was alarmed at getting into the port having to pay 5 euros for crowded shuttle bus to Vathy (the main town) about 30 minutes
