We lived in Reno for 8 years and Tahoe was our favorite place to go for a variety of reasons. It is disected by the California/Nevada border and combines the advantage of casino nightlife with one of the most spectacularly beautiful settings in the world. Winter skiing (Squaw Valley, etc.) and a very large lake for the summer. Recommend the boat trip across the lake and a beverage at the top of Harvey's with a wonderful lake view.
