Tangier is a bustling city--lots of activity. If you're traveling alone, particularly, if you are a female, go with a group if you're making the easy "hop" from the south of Spain. Group travel is easy: they pick you up (yes, very early in the morning), it can be a long ride to the port, but then you're on a high-speed ferry, and before you know it, you're in Africa.
