I live in the twin cities area, i'm sure it isn't as exciting as New York City or Los Angeles but i think it's beautiful. The Mall of America is close by (Bloomington) which isn't that wonderful since it's basically just a 4 level mall w/ stores you can find anywhere, but it's probably something you should check out.
