Nantucket, after you get past the mob of tourists on the waterfront, or perhaps even if you were one of them, is a delight. The architecture of the town is dominated by the old whaling shipowners and captains houses, and this design is carried through much of the main part of town. As you stroll through the tree-lined streets there are abundant restaurants, cafes and shops (many overpriced but that won't stop you). The whaling museum is very well done and really helps all to understand this
