Portland is a quintessential New England city – small, quaint, picturesque, and fresh seafood galore. It is situated way up there in Maine, meaning it’s not the type of place that you just pass through unless you are taking an unconventional route to Canada. But, once there, you have fairly easy access to Boston via Amtrak, as well as the lovely sea villages lining the Atlantic coast.
