Siena is a beautiful little medieval town in the heart of Tuscany. Famous for its shell-shaped piazza del campo, and the biannual horse race (the Palio) that takes place in it in the summer, it's the perfect daytrip. Even if there isnt an enormous amount to see, it's one of those places like san gimignano that is a must on your tuscan itinerary, but not a place you would spend a week in.
