San Diego is a great, easy-to-get-to destination for those long weekends of school breaks. I have been there only during off-season and loved it. It was still warm to get into the pool and didn't have hordes of tourists that it probably has otherwise. I wouldn't fly across the country just to come to San Diego, but it's well worth a long drive or a short flight in my book.
