About surfscotty: Professional Surfer from Encinitas, California. I love surfing and traveling the world for something I am deeply passionate about. I love meeting new people and having a great time in all the new locations I go to. This year I have stepped up my competition schedule and I'm going set my focus on the ASP Pro Junior series. Sometimes in life you have to ask yourself are you happy what you are doing? Surfing and traveling are in my blood and each day I am thankful that I am able to experience new perspectives and meet people from all walks of life. One thing I have learned on my many journeys is that simplicity is completely underrated. In parts of Mexico, kids have just as much fun kicking around a plastic bottle as they would with a $1000 toy.

Travel Status: Back in California. Just bought my ticket for Mainland Mexico and then planning on an extended trip for Australia. Contest plans in Florida again for ASP pro Juniors.
Has lived in: Encinitas, California, Biaritz, France, Colorado.
Tends to travel: Solo, With a friend, With a group, For business, For pleasure

The last hotel I stayed in Florida was the Double Tee in Melbourne. This places is rad. All the rooms are a suite which means that there are 2 rooms in one. U walk in and there is a little living room with a huge color TV, a mini fridge, a pull out couch bed. Then you walk into the bedroom that is separated by a door, to a ocean view room with another huge color TV. The beds are really comfortable and there huge as well! The best thing about this hotel is that your room is on the beach. You can watch the sunrise through one part of your hotel room and watch the sun set in another. There is wireless internet access but you have to go to the lobby to get it. Kind of of a hassle but its not that big of a deal.

There is a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi the pool is pretty big! Right next to the pool and the Jacuzzi is an outdoor bar/restaurant where you can get a cocktail and chill out. This hotel is on the a1a in Melbourne and is close to a lot of restaurants. My favorite restaurant over there is called Me Maws. This is all time barbeque.. hit this place up! All in all I give this hotel about a 8 out of 10. the only problems I had was the wifi. The total cost for a night was about $137 a night.

When I go to Florida it is most likely for surfing contests. I have contests in Melbourne beach at Sebastian inlet a lot and the hotel that I stay at when I go there is called the “Tuckaway Shores” this hotel is right on the beach and about a 15-20 minutes drive to Sebastian inlet. Since most of the hotels closer to the inlet are still being fixed from the hurricanes this place is perfect, the rooms are huge! When you walk in there is a front room with 2 double beds then you walk into the back room and you have yourself a full on living room. It comes with a full fridge flat screen TV your own set of silverware a full sink area and a view of the ocean, this place is rad. The Tuckaway usally runs at about $128 a night depending on season but you get what you pay for.

When I go to the trades shows that are in Orlando I stay at the Peabody hotel located right next to the convention center. This place is super nice and really expensive but you get what you pay for. This hotel is made famous for the walking of the ducks. Every morning and evening they have a guy who comes out and walks the ducks around the lobby. All the ducks are trained and nice. It’s pretty cool. The hotel is right in the heart of Orlando and is about a 5-10 minutes cab drive to universal studios. It runs at about $250-500 a night depending on season. Even though it is expensive it is worth it.
