Has lived in: I grew up on Long Island, New York and go to school in New York City. I just spent the past four months living in Prague. I've also spent time in India, and travelled extensively through the US and Canada. There's no better way to experience life than to experience it around the world.

This hostel is situated 3 blocks off the Ramblas in the heart of Barcelona. Though most hostels in Europe range from 15-20 dollars, this hostel cost about 22 a night. However, it was on the cheapside for Barcelona, so it's hard to complain. Breakfast was included: mostly cereal. And the other people staying there were very friendly. My big complaint however is that they charged extra (2.50 euro) for sheets and linens. Otherwise good. It's located on Santa Eulalia, near the Metro (Liceo stop).

Talk about perfect location, this hostel is situated at the heart of the heart of Krakow, in the main square. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. The rooms are colorful, and the nights not too noisy. Plenty of maps are available- be sure to ask for recommendations where to eat. Best of all for money-conscious folk out there, breakfast is included.

Travelling anywhere in Britain for a reasonable price may seem difficult with the pound (now more than twice the value of the dollar). However, Edinburgh is an oasis for price-conscious travellers, with many hostels for 10 pounds of under per night. At the Cowgate hostel, where a bed will cost you 9 pounds, linens are provided for you, as are an abundance of maps. There is a small complimentary breakfast in the morning (coffee, oatmeal). More importantly, the people who work here are very eager to help you find your way. But this is an easy task because the cowgate hostel is situated right in the center of Edinburgh, barely two blocks from the Royal Mile that leads to the castle, and a block from the grassmarket. A great find.
