Just stayed at the Marriott May 2006. It was fine, and the staff were very friendly and helpful... but there are so many great B&Bs in the area, my preference would have been to stay in a place that was so much more quaint rather than a "chain" establishment.
For example, there is a full service hotel called the "Viking" which is much more Newport-oriented and provides a much better local experience. Close to: Bellevue Avenue, shops, 5 min walk to beach

Stayed at the Jared Coffin House back in 2002. It's situated right in the town center - ridiculously close to all of the restaurants, stores, and even the ferry. We stayed in a room with hardwood floors, a 4 poster bed, and lots of New England charm. Close to: restaurants, stores
