Very nice up to date resort right on the beach, but we did have a hard time finding it. The address says it's in Lahaina, but it's farther north, a few blocks from the Kapalua West Maui Airport. The room was very nice, it had a kitchenette and balcony overlooking the pool & beach. The bed was a murphy bed, so it pulled down from the wall, which was kind of cool. The only bad thing was the parking, there isn't enough parking out front and the cars are parked so close together we were afraid someone was going to hit our rental car, so we chose to park across the street instead. They also have an activities desk where they can help you make arrangements for anything you'd like to do in Maui and every day they have a special activity at the resort (ex - ice cream social, cookout on the beach, etc.). This is another place where they expect you to come stay for a week, so we were lucky to be able to stay for only two days.

We arrived late in the day and were only staying one night, but we quickly decided that if we were ever to come back for an extended stay, this would be the place to choose! Hard to get to, since it's in Hana and the only way to get there is taking the Road to Hana, but well worth it. The rooms are rustic looking on the outside and very updated & clean on the inside - tile floors, full kitchen, but no TV. The goal of course to relax and get away from the rest of the world. We had a partial view of the secluded black beach and sunset from our balcony. Very few places to eat around there, the alternative option being a quick stop at the general store (or bringing food with you) and enjoying your meal out on your balcony or grilling down at the patio area. Since the earthquake in October 2006, the road past the 7 Sacred Pools (about 9 miles from the resort) has been closed due to falling rocks, so include in your plans to take the Road to Hana back to get to any other part of Maui. The price for one night was probably about average or lower for that area, but I think they usually only do week long stays.

I had a very early flight out of Redmond/Bend (5:10am) and the Super 8 in Redmond is just a few minutes from the airport (RDM). I reserved my room on their website www.super8.com for $60. No problems checking in late. The nice lady at the front desk even helped me carry my bags to my room to make sure that my key worked since there had been a few that did not work earlier in the night. The room was small but clean, which was all I needed. Decent selection of cable stations to watch. I'd stay here again.
