About carolwhite: I was able to retire from the corporate world at age 52 and begin the next phase of my life -- which has turned out to be traveling and travel writing! My husband, Phil and I took a year long trip around the US, traveling 37,000 miles and having a ball. That lead to the ultimate road trip planner - "Live Your Road Trip Dream" - www.roadtripdream.com. We have traveled in every State in the US, seen all the National Parks in the contiguous 48 states (+ Hawaii & US Virgin Islands), been to several places in the Caribbean, and seen most of Western Europe. We're going to China this fall, and Australia/New Zealand and Africa are on our "must do" list. When we aren't traveling, we enjoy golf, community activities and, most of all, our 8 grandchildren.
Born: 1947
Has lived in: I've lived most of my life in one of the most wonderful states in the union -- Oregon. I've also lived in Ohio, where I was born, and southern California where my first child (now 39!) was born.
Tends to travel: With my partner/spouse, With family, For business, For pleasure

We made a quick trip to Astoria Oregon last week and found oursleves at Officers Row B&B in Hammond/Warrenton, Oregon. This B&B is just off the grounds of Ft. Stevens and very near the largest state park in Oregon -- Ft. Stevens.

The Inn has 6 very nicely decorated rooms with private baths, two parlors, a large wrap around porch; perfect for idling away an afternoon. Directly in front of the Inn is the old parade ground from the days when the fort was an active military base.

The proprietress of the Inn is warm, engaging and a veritable fountain of information about the area -- she worked for the Chamber of Commerce for 12 years -- she knows it all!

This was a charming, well maintained, and nicely decorated inn. You wouldn't go wrong booking your romantic get-away, small group get together, or last minute trip to the beach.
